Neda Bojnoordi

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
Neda Bojnoordi is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with 25 years’ experience supporting adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions and complex mental health challenges. She provides warm, culturally responsive and evidence-based therapy in both English and Farsi.

Professional summary

Neda is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with 25 years’ experience delivering mental health, counselling and wellbeing services. She supports adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, grief and significant life transitions, as well as people navigating psychosocial disability and adjustment to major changes in their lives.

Neda brings particular expertise in working with migrants, refugees, culturally and linguistically diverse communities and international students. As a bilingual practitioner with lived experience of migration, she understands the importance of providing therapy that respects culture, identity, language and each person’s individual experience.

Alongside her clinical practice, Neda is a Lecturer in Social Work at Adelaide University, where she teaches and supervises students in interviewing, counselling and group work skills. This academic work supports her commitment to maintaining a contemporary, evidence-based approach to practice.

How

Neda

can help

Neda supports people experiencing:

  • Trauma, PTSD and complex trauma
  • Anxiety, stress and ongoing worry
  • Depression and mood difficulties
  • Grief and loss
  • Family, domestic and sexual violence
  • Life transitions and adjustment difficulties
  • Psychosocial disability and NDIS-related support
  • Chronic pain and rehabilitation
  • Neurodivergence
  • Alcohol and other drug concerns
  • Cultural identity, belonging and migration-related challenges

Neda also provides comprehensive psychosocial and mental health assessments, risk assessments, and NDIS functional capacity assessments and reports.

Therapeutic approach

Neda’s approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed and culturally responsive. She draws on a broad range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based approaches, motivational interviewing, interpersonal therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

She adapts therapy to the individual rather than expecting the individual to adapt to therapy. This may include adjusting communication style, session structure, pace and therapeutic tools to accommodate culture, language, neurodivergence, disability or personal preference.

For clients who have experienced trauma, Neda prioritises safety and stabilisation and progresses to trauma-focused approaches such as EMDR or Cognitive Processing Therapy when the client is ready. Her work is practical and strengths-based, with clients supported to make informed choices about their therapy and progress at a pace that feels safe.

Why ASPL for social worker?

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. Information shared in sessions is confidential and handled in line with our privacy obligations. We will let you know in advance about the small number of circumstances where we are required to share information (for example, where there is risk of serious harm).

Are sessions in person or online?

Both. Telehealth is available across Australia. In-person sessions are available in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

Do I need a Mental Health Treatment Plan?

You do not need a referral to book with us. A Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP may allow you to claim a Medicare rebate for sessions with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. If you would like one, your GP can prepare it for you.

How much does a session cost?

Our session fees and current Medicare rebate amounts are available on our booking page. For some clients, seeing an AMHSW under Medicare may reduce out-of-pocket costs.

Is this clinical care or wellbeing support?

This is social work support delivered within a supervised practice. Medicare-funded clinical care is available with our Accredited Mental Health Social Workers. If you are looking for non-clinical wellbeing support, our Wellbeing Coaches sit in a separate service.

Is your social work support trauma-informed?

Yes. Our practice is trauma-informed and recovery-oriented. You are never pushed to share more than you are ready for, and we work with you at the pace that feels right.

What is the difference between a social worker and a psychologist?

Both can support people experiencing mental health challenges. Under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, Medicare rebates may be available with eligible psychologists and Accredited Mental Health Social Workers. A social worker often brings a particular strength in working with trauma, family and relationships, and in helping you navigate the systems and services around your situation. A psychologist often brings particular depth in diagnosis, assessment and structured therapy. We can help you think through which suits you best.
